This gorgeous film.
Oh I know. The worst infliction someone could impart on any one of us (in ranking of horror!) -
Hear someone continuously speak about their smart children
Hear someone wax eloquent about their son or daughter’s gorgeous wedding
Suddenly have a dear someone say -”I have written a poem. Want to hear it?”
I am afraid, the film below encompasses ALL THREE of the above. And, yes, with full awareness I still want you to see it.
The protagonists are Devang, my son, and Darshana, his wife, and some sundry side-characters (as all family members are in a wedding!). It was an intimate wedding - 80 odd people, but in a lovely heritage property.
And, ah, the poem you will hear in the beginning is mine. A gift to the kids, as it were. Used rather well in the film, I must say.
May I dare say - ENJOY!
The poem, if you are inclined to read it -
Changing Your Address (on marrying and moving homes)
It’s a mark of love
when you say yes,
whatever be the season.
.
However much you might know,
nothing ever prepares you
for the heights or the depths
of the world beyond the new door.
.
You will still have wings, though
the flight will frighten you,
and you will hold on, as you are not alone,
till you know that soaring is easy but
never a habit.
.
You feel everything you ever desired
will fall into place in strange ways,
asking you to to carry your past
as you greet the unknown.
.
Till you know, true love is never a test,
and you can use it as a bed
when your wings get tired.
.
Then, finally, you are of the earth,
without any need to be known,
happy to be an address for each other.
