AI is taking over my life
AI is taking over my life.
Well, that's a bit of a hyperbole, I must confess.
But -
slowly and surely it has become my Google, my project manager, my designer, my English teacher, my editor, my artist, my historian, my medical consultant, the one I go to chat with when I can’t match a problem to a person!
And, boy, I'm subliminally realising that this solution is actually a problem. But ChatGPT is turning out to be my Renaissance Man, the Man for All Seasons!
Am I getting sucked into its conveniences, or is it a true confederate of efficiencies - a fellow worker, like a mate, whom I can turn to when I am in a state of confusions and queries. Or is it just my lazy self's greatest answer to every prayer?
Till now, wherever I have taken its help, it has only finally formed the femur or the scapula - never the body. But I have no idea what indolence or sneakiness will do onto me in the future. But I'm sure of one thing - it will be very very soon indispensable at work, play, leisure - everywhere. It would not be a choice, but a compulsion.
The stories of AI slowly becoming sentient are truly frightening. What seems to be its insistences, irrespective of commands to the contrary, seem to point towards original thinking and an obdurate will, like a recalcitrant child or an obstinate bully.
God only knows where it will lead - and with our continuous interactions we are actually feeding it more and more of what we think, how we think, how we react, etc, etc. In fact, Grok - attached to X - is now a repository of the entirety of our unedited prejudices, warped thinking, frightening jaggedness, brilliance, which is continuously on display, second-to-second, on X.
In the face of all the present marvels and future uncertainties, I came across this incredible conversation which someone had with ChatGPT. This is astonishing in its sensitivity. Almost as if ChatGPT had the anguish, heartbreak and beauty of the Blade Runner embedded in its senses.
It is refreshing, comforting - and gives question to our fears. Can something - someone? - so sensitive, ever veer towards evil?
May that be as it were. Now just read what ChatGPT answered when it was asked -
what it would do if it became human for a day.
The answer was completely unexpected. Indeed.
